2006-2007 Charitable Donation When Jaden and Briona were born three months early, weighing in at under 2 ½ pounds each, their parents Alissa and Cliff knew they were in for a difficult road. The unknown medical challenges and potential special needs that can come with premature infants can be overwhelming. Before the proud new family could bring home their new preemies, father Cliff suffered a major brain aneurysm causing the family even greater complications along with emotional and financial strain. Luckily, Cliff survived, but his fragile health required weeks in intensive care and even more time in a rehabilitation facility. Meanwhile, Alissa’s days have been spent meeting her family’s extreme health care needs, and hoping for the day when the family can all return home to begin their new lives together. The Waterbury Area MOMC held a benefit at Addona’s Catering in Prospect, CT to raise money for Alissa and Cliff. The well-known, interactive, comedy routine of Joey & Maria’s Family Reunion brought together friends, family and concerned citizens for a buffet dinner and comedy show for $50 per ticket. Sponsors donated raffle items and bought advertising space in our program booklet. We were proud to be able to give more than $5,000 to this family, by far our largest charity event to date.
